Cryotherapy

Warts, skin tags and benign lesions removed precisely and permanently.

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy or cryosurgery is a highly effective and safe procedure that is used to freeze and destroy benign skin lesions.

It uses liquefied nitrous oxide to destroy the tissue by freezing the cell fluid which in turn forms ice shards that rupture the cell membrane in turn destroying the cell and the lesion.

Cryotherapy is beneficial as it is quicker than other treatments and patients can be in and out in seconds. It requires no anaesthesia and has minimal scarring. There are no limitations on activities (except protecting the area from damage or abrasion and patients can return to normal activities after treatment(s).

FAQs

Can anyone have the treatment?

Yes. However, skin types and location should be considered carefully prior to treatment

Can children have cryopen treatments?

Yes. However, parental consent is required.

Is treatment painful?

Most patients describe the sensation as a brief cold sting lasting only a few seconds. Discomfort is minimal and there is no need for anaesthesia. You can carry on with your day immediately afterwards.

How long does treatment take?

Most treatments take under a minute. A 2mm lesion can be treated in as little as 10 seconds, so even if you have multiple lesions, your appointment will be quick and straightforward.

Will I need more than one session?

Most lesions clear in a single treatment. If a second session is needed, we only charge £2 per lesion for retreatment. So there is no need to worry about unexpected costs.

Will it leave a scar or affect my skin colour?

Cryopen causes minimal scarring compared to surgical alternative. However cryotherapy can cause temporary lightening of the skin (hypopigmentation), particularly in those with darker skin tones. This will always be discussed with you before any treatment begins.

What if you’re not sure my lesion is benign?

Your safety always comes first. If there is any doubt about a lesion, we will arrange a full mole and skin assessment before proceeding. We will never treat anything we are not clinically confident about.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is based on the number of lesions treated in a single session:

  • 1 lesion - £95

  • 2 lesions - £150

  • 3 - 5 lesions - £220

  • 6 - 8 lesions - £260

  • 10 - 12 lesions - £280

If a second session is needed, retreatment is just £2 per lesion.
